London is one of the most famous cities in the world. The history, the cultural diversity, the sites and activities all bring the streets and the city to life.

The sites of London such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and The Houses of Parliament are fantastic historical sites that no person can leave without seeing. These all provide a great scene for the more modern buildings of Canary Warf, The London Eye and The Millennium Dome, which are just as great for people to come and see. London has seen a lot through the years; the Black Death in 1348 halving the city’s population, the Great Plague taking 100,000 lives with it, and the cholera epidemic killing 14,000; yet through everything London has still fought back and is now a thriving city of over 7 million making it the largest city in Europe.

London has a great shopping scene, with huge shopping centres and the famous Regent Street and Oxford Street. There are also great tours and attractions to visit, such as Madame Tussauds, the Tower of London, and the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. There are also great art galleries to visit and tour around, fantastic theatres and opera houses to enjoy an evening of entertainment, and such a diversity of nightlife and restaurants, that visiting a different area of the city will feel like a whole different country.

To visit other parts of England including Stonehenge, Bath and other areas of the English countryside, a rental car will be needed to enable you to visit this beautiful area at your own pace.

London is vast - it stretches for more than thirty miles each side of the River Thames, and with an ethnically diverse population of 8 million it is Europe’s largest city. This is the home to many attractions that people travel from all over to see, home to where the central government resides a big attraction is the House of Commons.

London is also home to the well known sites of Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the Tower of London, medieval banquet halls, the great churches of Christopher Wren, and great Victorian architecture. There are parts of London that can be quiet, such as small collections of villages, riverside walks and quiet Georgian squares. There is also a vast majority of parks to be seen in London from Hyde Park, Green Park and St James’ Park all within walking distance of the West End, to the more expansive parks such as Hampstead Heath and Richmond Park.

If you enjoy a more up beat kind of lifestyle holiday you could spend days shopping through the streets and centers of London, there are the famous weekend markets in Portobello Road, or living the highlife with the upper class in Harrods. There is always something for everyone. London is also famous for its West End scene, music and clubbing events, theatres, exhibitions and opera. It also has a vast range and style of restaurants and pubs, catering from three-star Michelin establishments to low-cost, high quality Chinese restaurants and curry houses. You’ll never get bored of things to do in such a vast and multicultural city.
